What is the Lusby Excellence Award?

Named after our founder and first president, J.W. Lusby, this competitive scholarship recognizes students who exemplify strong Christian character, commitment to their faith, and dedication to their future careers.

Open to new freshmen students (transfer and re-admitted students are not eligible).

Applicants must have a minimum 3.50 high school GPA and a 27 ACT or SAT equivalent score.

Up to eight students will be awarded each year.

Residential students may receive up to 100% tuition coverage.

Commuter students may receive up to 85% tuition coverage.

Scholarship is renewable annually if the student maintains a 3.30 CGPA at KCU.

Application Requirements & Deadlines:

Students must be accepted for admission to KCU by January 1 to be considered. Submission of a 1,000–1,500 word essay by March 1 on one of the following topics:

  • A personal event, situation, or activity that exemplifies Christian character.

  • How their Christian walk has shaped their response to peer pressure, witnessing, work ethic, etc.

  • How Christian character will influence their future career performance.
